Aneroid and digital sphygmomanometers are the most commonly available devices for measuring blood pressure. Aneroid sphygmomanometers are portable, and gauge with a needle to display pressure readings; however, they can be susceptible to inaccuracies if not maintained properly. The latter use electronic sensors to measure blood pressure and display the results on a screen. Known for their ease of use, often include features like automatic inflation and deflation and in stray cases these are prone to error if the user moves during measurement. It was attempted to study comparative benefits and disadvantages of the two devices in Nehru Hospital, Chandigarh.
